This academic year has seen our Physical Education department at the school grow and flourish, alongside our pupil’s progress.

Lessons this year have covered a wide range of sports and activities with pupils working hard to refine their sport specific skills. Sportsmanship and teamwork are the underlying theme to every lesson with pupils focusing peer feedback.

During lessons some classes have also welcomed coaches from the Change Foundation who are a charity that uses sport and dance to transform the lives of young people. The coaches (who have ASD themselves) work with the pupils to discuss and develop the tools to overcome barriers that affect them.

Afterschool sports clubs have increased during this academic year, we have seen popular uptake of basketball, athletics, badminton, gym and now football club with a professional football coach. Clubs for the department are a great opportunity for pupils to excel in their favourite sports and really learn what is important in order to sustain a healthy lifestyle – an extremely important life skill.

The school football team have expanded and we now have players from year 7 through to year 11. Pupils have worn the Rise Football Kit (a bespoke design created by one of our year 10 pupils and team captain) with pride as they have played against other schools, remaining resilient and very professional - a real credit to the school.

We have attended many of the local Panathlon competitions both athletics and swimming, students have represented the school with passion and pride finishing highly on the score board.
