Admissions

Pupils who attend The Rise School have a primary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and have an Education, Health and Care Plan which names the school as their designated place of learning.

We consider each application on an individual basis, please see our latest admissions policy.

Admissions at The Rise: 2023-2024 academic year

The Rise School can support pupils aged four to 19.  However, the youngest pupils at the school are currently in Year 4 (8-9 years old). We currently do not have a pupil cohort for Reception and Year 1 to 3 (4 to 7 years old).

We have a pupil capacity of 142. This is for 106 pupils in the Primary and Secondary site in Feltham and 36 at our Sixth Form site in Isleworth.

For September 2023 we are at capacity in Feltham for Secondary (Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4) but a few places remain in Primary in Years 4 and 5.

Admissions to The Rise School are handled by local authorities. The school is reliant on referrals from local authorities, and all of these must follow the school’s admissions process.

Admission process

We invite parents and carers to visit our school as part of the application process.

If it appears from an initial enquiry from a local authority that a placement at The Rise School may be suitable a prospective pupil, the following process takes place:

  1. The prospective pupil will be invited in to be taught alongside the school’s current cohort of pupils in core subject lessons.
  2. At this first observation, parents will be invited to visit the school and given further information about it.
  3. Following the initial observation, if it is felt that the school may be able to meet the prospective pupil’s needs, the school will invite the pupil to spend three days being taught alongside the school’s current cohort of pupils.
  4. Following assessment of the prospective pupil, a recommendation is made to the local authority either to offer a place or outline why it feels it is not able to meet this pupil’s individual needs.
  5. If there is a place in the year group and the school feels that the prospective pupil’s needs can be met, a formal offer is made in writing to the child’s local authority.
